Seeing God’s Goodness!
It has been an incredibly challenging week for all of us. Hurricane Helene hit our state much harder than anticipated, and I have found myself speaking with God a lot over the last few days. I’ve been praying for so many in need and thanking Him for a million reasons—the safety of our children and BK, our staff, our kids’ family members, and my family members. I’ve also thanked God for the many volunteers and local church groups that have been available and willing to pour out love and help during this exceedingly difficult time in the community, etc. Even in the storms of life, God is faithful and so good!
Let me tell you about the goodness that I’ve observed. Due to the hurricane, our kids have been out of school over the last few days. When they are out of school, campus can be a lot more chaotic...and fun! Spending more time with them is such a blessing to us. I’ve seen kids riding bikes, swinging on our new swing set, and playing together outside. I’ve also seen our kids raking up leaves into giant piles, sweeping driveways off in epic competitions, and happily picking up the small limbs that all got stirred up during the storm. It’s important to us for our kids to take ownership of their home while they are here and take pride in what their neighborhood looks like. It’s been great to see them working together to put things back as they were while teams have come to help in the cleanup of our campus along with them. Our community loves us well and is setting a fabulous example to our kids about how to serve others.
Another great thing example of that community love has shown up in all the calls, emails and texts I’ve received from so many of you in our community reaching out asking if and how they can help us, asking how we faired through the storm and how our families have been and are doing. What a testament to God’s love and His presence in our community! Thank you for the continued support and care!
Another way to support our kids is just around the corner. Our 41st Annual BBQ is tomorrow! We have got tickets available so if you are interested in purchasing plates, please go to our events page on this website! Let us make dinner for you on Saturday night while you help support our kids!
