It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas
Everywhere you go, it’s clear that Christmas is just around the corner. In downtown Seneca, the lights are going up and all our local stores have stocked the shelves with Christmas decor and gifts. So, ready, or not, here comes Christmas!
I learned a lot about Christmas at Collins Home Family Ministries last year. The outpouring of love for those we serve is palpable as community members call and stop by to see how they can help. It truly warms the heart and reminds us of the love and sacrifice Jesus displayed for us, even as a newborn.
When I think back on my childhood, I can recall several Christmas gifts that were especially memorable: Baby Heartbeat, a Green Machine and an Everlast punching bag. These gifts were given to me because I simply asked. I made a list of all the things I thought I wanted and then those who loved me sacrificed their time and money to make Christmas memorable.
Another especially important thing I learned last Christmas at Collins Home Family Ministries is this: Christmas does not just happen in December, it happens on a random Tuesday in April, when a child who is experiencing hardship is placed in our care. Christmas can also be on a Thursday in May when a child gets his very first bike. Here at CHFM we are blessed to experience the love and sacrifice of Jesus every day.
This year, I invite you to help us spread the spirit of Christmas throughout the entire year. Our team has been working hard to put together a list of experiences like visiting the trampoline park or a meal at a local restaurant, gift cards, and needs that we hope you'll help us fulfill. Your generosity can turn an ordinary Friday in September into a Christmas moment.
Meeting these needs and providing these experiences will help us create positive memories for all the children and young adults who still see us as family. These gifts also enable Collins Home Family Ministries to be responsible stewards of the donations we receive. By planning monthly outings, we can ensure that every child in our care—even those who aren't with us on Christmas Day—can build lasting, positive memories.
On our website, you'll find a list of local attractions and businesses from which we would greatly appreciate receiving gift cards. You can purchase gift cards directly from them and send them to us, or you can send us a check with a note in the memo line indicating which gift card you'd like us to buy. Additionally, we always welcome Amazon and Walmart gift cards to help cover our daily expenses.
Together, we can carry the love of Christmas throughout the entire year!
