Serving Others

Something unique happens when we serve others, and I’ve experienced it in a very personal way. When we serve others, compassion, love, mercy, and grace collide simultaneously, illuminating abilities that once lay dormant within us. That probably sounds dramatic as you read it, but it is true, nonetheless.

My journey is an unconventional one. My background and education are in radiology, not non-profit leadership or business management. Yet, I found my way to the latter through a path of service. How? By serving others.

At church one Sunday morning, our pastor taught from Matthew 20:26-28 and that message and a bible study about finding our true purpose changed my life. If Jesus came to serve others and give His life away, so should I. The truth is I did not set out to become a ministry leader; instead, I looked for an opportunity to volunteer, and over the next four years, God opened doors, and my life changed forever. I was honored to serve on a church staff and lead three Christian non-profit ministries almost twenty years after that message.

Serving others by volunteering your time is a fantastic way to live out your faith and impact the lives of others in our community. At Collins Home Family Ministries, we have many volunteer opportunities that help us provide shelter to children, strength to families, and stability to our community. While some of those opportunities focus on serving children, other volunteer opportunities allow us to provide services to children and families.

At Collins Home Family Ministries, we value your unique skills and experiences. Whether you're a customer service pro, a music enthusiast, or a culinary wizard, we have a place for you to make a difference. As you can imagine, some of these opportunities require training and background checks, while others may require you to be willing to provide manual labor.
