Shoe Day

I’ve always loved shoes, especially a new pair right out of the box. As someone who battles with weight, I’ve also found that a good pair of shoes will fit me no matter what the scale says. Over the years, I’ve owned well over a thousand pairs of shoes, and today, I have about ten pairs in my closet. Yes, I own more shoes than pants.

When children come to Collins Home Family Ministries, sometimes they only have clothes on their backs and shoes on their feet. On multiple occasions, I've witnessed parents shedding tears as they leave their sons and daughters at Collins Home. This day is the hardest of hard days, and I’ve been thinking about a way to put a positive spin on it for the children. So, from this day forward, we will refer to this tough day as “Shoe Day”.

That’s right—Shoe Day. It's a day for the newest member of the Collins Family to get a pair of shoes that fit, are of good quality, and that they get to pick out. There are so many things we take for granted, so many little things that make a huge difference in a child's life. When you become a financial partner with us, you make a very tough day a little better. Thank you!
